Kustom Show 2006

Trouble by Roger Goldammer & Speed Bowl by Krugger

Lucky day, an unusual blue sky on Paris, accompanies me to the Dock Pullman where takes place the 6th Kustom Show.

My professional activities obliging me to carry my lenses in foreign countries the next day. I can stay only saturday at the show ! Impossible mission ? Seen the program announced in the press kit: « two days of power, dexterity and creativity with outstanding animations ». Nothing less !

A « bike show of exception » : unmistakably the key point of Kustom Show. There were beautiful, nice and expensive... bikes !

Indeed, we stayed filled with admiration for Trouble of Roger Goldammer. The meeting between a monocylinder and a compressor, a big knowledge how to make, ideas to resell, a dressing vintage heightened by high tech parts. The new way of the custom world opened by this Canadian who markets his famous forks by his eponymic company.

Already famous Speed Bowl of the fellow Fred « Krugger » is always so surprising with its look so old and its innovative technical ways.

Big airbrush job at the German Habermann who presents two choppers, Caligo and Balor, with characteristic, modern, recognizable line and so crazy paintings, the opposite of Easyrider and old day choppers.

Fred Bertrand - Krugger Motorcycle Company

The Revenge of Red Baron Choppers, dressed in steel works, with its engine in front position like a V victorious, also monopolized the approving glances.

And then all the others who made the show unmistakably the level was raised.

Unfortunately the follow up is less glorious. Very fast I notice that everything is based on the bikeshow. Even financially, because the biker will have to pay out a supplementary entrance to attend the price giving. Never seen!

Two hours later (all the same !) and having crossed the show, in length, in wide, across and conversely,

having met the faithful biker net users, having consulted the friends, we have to notice that the show misses atmosphere.

Let's go to the the Harley hall, where bikers seems to be bored too ! even the fashion show (!!!) doesn't succeed in returning some lost bikers.

Year after year it always misses something so that the party is a perfectly successful ! Iif all the good moments of the preceding show were kept, the Kustom Show would be really one of the most important European custom shows. While waiting, one can always dream !

Kustom Show - Paris - 2006

The « best international customisers » : Marcus Walz (Hardcore), Roger Goldammer, Fred Bertrand (Krugger) and SBA for the custom challenge... the others have to forget the date !

Fred - Dub Performance

If the organizers had thought everything to attract the bikers, they had forgotten the most important... to retain them ! because we were not very numerous saturday in the alleys. And, I fear that the figures of frequentation strongly differ from the point of view from the organizers or the observers...
Sunday didn't do better in spite of the appearance (surprise ?) of an old singer with success which had its hour of glory... well... it was one Wednesday I believe, between 8 pm & 9 pm... chased by custom builders ( fans ?)  wishing to give him cards...

It was not the best Kustom Show but we saw beautiful bikes. We hope the next one will not make it regret but rather forget.

Meditation : « the promises engages only those which listen to them ! ».

And I leave under the beautiful blue sky of Paris full with promises of heat and light...
